If you plan to use public transport in London, you have two options for the Notes, the Travelcard (paper ticket) or Oyster (a PCB). Cheaper and more flexible than single tickets, they both allow you to freely use public transportation during your stay.
Travelcards
You can choose a Travelcard for one or three days and define the areas of validity in which you plan to move. They are valid for metro, bus, Docklands Light Rail, tram, London Overground and some companies of national railway within the zones. Travelcards are not valid for express services to airports. Travelcards one and three days are available for travel during peak hours (any time) and off peak (after 9:30 Monday to Friday).

Travelcards are also available for seven days or more, but only on the Oyster card. You can buy your Travelcards in advance or at visitbritaindirect.com agents Transport for London network abroad - see tfl.gov.uk for more information. You can purchase Travelcards around London Underground stations, at the Travel Information Centres and National Rail stations. Some local tobacco shops also sell Travelcards.
Oyster cards
Oyster is an electronic card that allows you to move to London. You can use it to pay each time you use public transport or load a package for a given period. The first option allows you to charge your Oyster card will be charged for each trip. When you have made a number of trips in a day with the Oyster card system caps the price for the day to an amount still lower than the price of a one-day Travelcard. Oyster cards can be recharged at one of the thousands of points in the capital and can be loaned to someone to use it or store it for future visits. You can not use Oyster on board the Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services in the Hayes & Harlington between Heathrow and, in the high-speed services between Southeastern High St Pancras International, Stratford International, or any other path starting or ending outside the Zones 1-9 or beyond Watford Junction or Grays. Children under 5 years
Free trip regardless of the hours on buses, metro, tram, DLR and London Overground when accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket.
Children 5 to 10 years
All children from 5 to 10 years can travel free on buses and trams regardless of the time without a ticket or Oyster card. Up to four children accompanying an adult in possession of a valid ticket or Oyster card travel free on the subway, on the DLR and London Overground.
Children 11 to 15 years
All children from 11 to 15 years must have an Oyster photocard to travel free on buses and trams. A photo ID will be required for the underground, DLR and London Overground to a maximum of £ 1 per day. To apply for an Oyster photocard to child fare, visit tfl.gov.uk/fares.
